Last night, my coordinating sister came into our room and read Ecc. 3:1-11 and it basically described my week. This week has been hard but good. I'm learning to live for the little things like when I say a sentence correctly in Chinese, gym time, or getting letters. Or the cafeteria banana bread (especially on the off chance that they put chocolate chips in them). Oh and I finally convinced my district to go to the temple Tuesday morning and then have breakfast there and you better bet we will be doing that every week for the next 7 weeks!
Last Tuesday Elder Ballard came and that was such a treat to hear a general authority, but really, every talk and devotional is amazing and knocks me out of my seat. This sunday the president of the Provo temple came and spoke and he was so amazing. He talked about the importance of taking on the name of Christ and why missionaries go through the temple so that we can recieve inspiration but that anyone who has gone through the temple can recieve inspiration like missionaries. Also, everything points back to the Atonement. EVERYTHING. I love thinking about Jerusalem everytime they talk about Gethsemane or Golgotha.
I had a little ephiphany the other day. I realized that we are all willing to sacrifice 18 months to 2 years of our lives because we know this is the true church. Of course we wouldn't be sacrificing so much if we didn't know with our whole hearts that it's true. If we are willing to do something crazy like that, then why wouldn't someone be willing to do something crazy like follow the word of wisdom or get baptized? We are always being told to not limit ourselves with our teaching or chinese but I realizd that I need to challenge myself to not limit anyone else. Our fake investigator has a smoking problem and I had no qualms suggesting that we invite him to stop smoking on the first leasson because if the Spirit is right, then people will really do crazy things like stop smoking after talking to the missionaries for thirty minutes. So yes, the Spirit makes us do crazy things. Like learn Chinese.
Also, Everyone needs to read the blog of Carolyn Carter's that Bekah sent me and then read a talk by Sheri Dew called Remember who you are or where you came from or seomthing like that. Amazing and inspiring. I'm out of time but I just wanted all of you to know that this gospel is so true. And that we really are nothing without the Lord. I see it in my life everyday as I am broken down just to be built up higher and stronger with the Lord's help. I don't knkow what I would to without the Atonement in my life. That is why I am here. Because I would never want to know what life would be like without the Atonement and knowing the Plan of Happiness and I have to share that with people in the MTC and in Vancouver Canada. God is good, always. I'll just keep kicking Satan in the face over here. Anyone with me? Put them hands up!
